Voice Accomplishments
Voice has made amazing strides since its inception in October of 2002. Since VOICE started, the initiative has made 7,347 student and staff contacts through trainings, presentations to classes and student groups, presentations to staff groups, orientations, and campus events.
- Since VOICE started, the initiative has made 7,347 student and staff contacts through trainings, presentations to classes and student groups, presentations to staff groups, orientations, and campus events.
- Since June 2003, 149 staff members have completed the 4-hour training to become Allies for victim-survivors of sexual violence. VOICE has conducted departmental Ally trainings for the Police Department, the Dean of Students Office, Student Health Services, CLAM, and the Office of International Education. Staff from the Counseling Center , Student Housing, and the Athletic Association have also attended Ally trainings.
- Since September 2004, 110 students have completed the 4-hour training to become Allies for victim-survivors of sexual violence.
- Since December 2004, 14 students and 6 staff members have completed the 14-hour Liaison training. Eight students are currently completing the 10 additional training hours required to become certified at the Advocate level (24 hours total).
- The Safe Sister Program, a collaboration between VOICE and the Georgia Tech National Panhellenic Council, was recognized by the Southeastern Panhellenic Conference for Outstanding Programming in Women's Issues. The Safe Sister program has trained 34 sorority sisters at the Ally level since it began in October 2004. Eight of the Safe Sisters have completed the 14-hour Liaison training and five are in the process of completing the 24-hour Advocate training. Every Panhellenic sorority on campus now has between 2 and 6 Ally-trained members.
- Demand for trainings continues to grow. Recent Ally trainings have been full, and a growing number of Ally-trained students and staff are interested in further training.
