Where Can I Get Help?

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, help is available. We are glad that you are reaching out! Here is a list of resources at Georgia Tech, the Atlanta community, and around the nation. * Please note that the timeframe of the incident does matter! If the incident occurred recently, please consider going to an advocate, medical facility, or calling law enforcement as soon as you can!

Georgia Tech Resources

Georgia Tech 24-hour Sexual Assault Information Line: 404-894-9000

Receive general information and get connected to the Grady Rape Crisis Center, the GT Police, the GT Counseling Center, and the GT Women's Resource Center.

Georgia Tech Counseling Center: 404-894-2575

The Georgia Tech Counseling Center offers free counseling services for Georgia tech students who have been victims of sexual assault (as well as other counseling services). Some of the counselors are also members of the Sexual Violence Task Force.

Georgia Tech Wellness Center: 404-894-9980

The Wellness Center provides educational information, presentations, programs, and resource referral for sexual assault and related issues. Students can also meet with health educators individually to discuss sexual health issues. The Wellness Center is home to the VOICE initiative for violence prevention and advocacy on Georgia Tech campus.

Health Services: 404-894-2584

Health Services provides medical treatment, not including evidence collection, during regular business hours. Follow-up sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and emergency contraception (EC) is available (EC is also available at the Women’s Clinic).

Women’s Clinic: 404-894-1434

Two female nurse practitioners provide services to women for their sexual and reproductive health needs. Emergency contraception (EC) is a form of pregnancy prevention that the Women’s Clinic and Health Services can provide to female students. IMPORTANT: It is most effective when taken within 72 hours of sexual intercourse. For more information on EC, go to: http://ec.princeton.edu/

Sexual Violence Task Force (SVTF): 404-385-1563

The SVTF is a campus group composed of staff, faculty, and students working to develop sexual assault response and prevention programs for the Georgia Tech Community. For more information, go to the Sexual Violence Task Force web site.

Campus Police: 404-894-2500

The Campus Police support the investigation and prosecution of cases as well as provide for the care and well-being of victims. They will transport victims to Grady for treatment and will make referrals. Several members of the Georgia Tech Police Department are involved in the Sexual Violence Task Force.

Dean of Students: 404-894-6367

The Dean of Students can serve as an advocate for students reporting incidents of sexual assault. They can provide resources and referrals for victims. They also enforce judicial actions to respond to sexual violence. The Dean of Students office is involved in the Sexual Violence Task Force.

Women’s Resource Center: 404-385-0230

The Women's Resource Center provides information, educational programs, referrals, and support for Georgia Tech students, faculty, and administration regarding sexual assault, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct.

 

Atanta Community Resources

Grady Rape Crisis Center: 404-616-4861

Grady offers 24hr. medical treatment and crisis support for victims and family. Grady offers support during evidence collection and on-going support for victims (including accompanying victims to court and providing individual and family counseling). There is No Charge for a pelvic exam, collection for evidence, and initial medication. Georgia Tech police will provide students with transportation to Grady in the case of a sexual assault.

Men Stopping Violence (MSV:) 404-688-1376

MSV is a social change organization dedicated to ending men’s violence against women. MSV provides training, education, intervention, and works with other organizations for social justice.

Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault (GNESA): 678-701-2700

GNESA Provides technical support and staff training to rape crisis centers, and professional training to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) and law enforcement professionals. GNESA also develops community awareness events and media campaigns about sexual assault issues.

 

National Resources

Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN): 1-800-656-HOPE (4673)

RAINN provides services and support to sexual assault victims and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline. RAINN also educates the public about sexual assault prevention, prosecution, and recovery and works nationally to improve victim services.

This is a free, confidential hotline provided by RAINN to support sexual assault victims 24/7.
